The nest is still in the early stages but you can watch all the action live on our Live Cameras. We have had the camera up for a couple of days but wanted to check if the female blackbird was making a nest there before we put them live on the site.

The first 4 hatched yesterday evening and the others had hatched by mid morning today. There is still 1 egg that is yet to hatch.

Unfortunately it looks like the female is on her own as there has been no sign of the male Blue Tit for over a week. She has been very busy getting food for the chicks but it is unlikely she will be able to raise all of them on her own.

The female is still bringing in bits of nesting material to add to her nest.

Our estimates for hatching are around the 15th to 17th May. Keep checking the website and live cameras to follow their progress

Unfortunately due to the leaves over the camera we weren’t able to catch the fledging on camera. The three chicks have been around the garden being fed by both parents and we managed to get some video which we will upload a bit later.

There is not much nesting material at the bottom of the nest and the eggs are actually sitting on the floor of the birdbox which is a bit unusual!

The nest is buried in an Ivy bush which is starting to grow rapidly now. This unfortunately means we don’t always have the best view from the camera but we are not going to go near the nest and disturb it so we will have to hope we get to see most of the action!
