A female blackbird has been very busy over the past couple of days building a nest in our wall climbing Ivy. The nest is still in the early stages but you can watch all the action live on our Live Cameras. We have had the camera up for a couple of days but wanted to check if the female blackbird was making a nest there before we put them live on the site.
We will be bringing you regular updates as well as some snapshots and video clips shortly
Welcome to the 2013 Nesting Season at Nature Watch. We are slowly getting up to speed and currently have 9 cameras streaming live to the website. Check them out here
We are posting all the best snapshots from these cameras in our new 2013 Photo Gallery so take a look at what has been happening over the past few days
We have had a few visits already from a Blue Tit pair, Great Tit pair and numerous house sparrows.
It is National Nest Box week and we are very busy getting all our boxes ready for this spring and we should have them up in the next week or so and we will be bringing you the live cameras as soon as we can!
Now is a great time to think about getting your own nestbox if you haven’t already. We highly recommend you take a look at Handykam if you are interested in your own camera bird box for this year. They have a whole range of boxes with different cameras to suit every need!
8 of the 9 Blue Tit eggs have hatched in Box A. The first 4 hatched yesterday evening and the others had hatched by mid morning today. There is still 1 egg that is yet to hatch.
Unfortunately it looks like the female is on her own as there has been no sign of the male Blue Tit for over a week. She has been very busy getting food for the chicks but it is unlikely she will be able to raise all of them on her own.
Fingers crossed though!! Keep watching online and let us know your thoughts and comments by registering on this site or using our Facebook and Twitter pages.
The Blue Tits now have a total of 9 eggs and the female has started incubating. The female is still bringing in bits of nesting material to add to her nest.
Our estimates for hatching are around the 15th to 17th May. Keep checking the website and live cameras to follow their progress
The Blue Tit pair now have 7 eggs in Box A. The female has started to spend a bit more time in the box during the day and the male has been in a couple of times with food.
Check out the Live Cameras for all the latest
The three blackbird chicks have fledged this morning. Unfortunately due to the leaves over the camera we weren’t able to catch the fledging on camera. The three chicks have been around the garden being fed by both parents and we managed to get some video which we will upload a bit later.
There are now 3 eggs in the Blue Tit nestbox. There is not much nesting material at the bottom of the nest and the eggs are actually sitting on the floor of the birdbox which is a bit unusual!
The Blue Tit has laid her first egg in Box A today. They are a little later than previous years and from some other sites. We will be posting updates on Twitter and Facebook and we will get some photos up soon
The blackbird chicks are doing well, receiving lots of food from both parents. The nest is buried in an Ivy bush which is starting to grow rapidly now. This unfortunately means we don’t always have the best view from the camera but we are not going to go near the nest and disturb it so we will have to hope we get to see most of the action!
